Strategic Roadmap Community Engagement

On October 26, a facilitated meeting at the Hudson River Maritime Museum Barn in Kingston provided the opportunity to gather feedback on the Flood Resilience Network’s five-year Strategic Roadmap. Over 80 people representing local governments, state agencies, local and regional non-profits, engineering consulting firms, and interested residents participated and provided feedback in this interactive session.

This meeting took place on the third day of the Hudson River Watershed Alliance’s 3-day 2022 Annual Watershed Conference, which focused on water and climate change.

Hannah Mico from River Network facilitated the session as part of the Strategic Roadmap community engagement process. Participants discussed and shared information about challenges with flooding, partnerships, and network processes to inform the Strategic Roadmap. The meeting was an valuable opportunity to hear from partners that are critical to the success of FRN, but may not currently be members.

There was a lot of energy in the packed room, with creative and thoughtful responses to the prompts.

We ended the day with a tour of the Kingston Wastewater Treatment Plant, which highlighted some of the flood mitigation measures they have implemented since experiencing significant flooding from Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Irene.
