Village of Nyack Site Visit

On September 15, the Hudson Valley Flood Resilience Network held a meeting and site visit in the Village of Nyack for municipalities and regional partners to connect and learn together.
The meeting included:
Program updates from the Hudson Valley Flood Resilience Network;
A presentation on the Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Planning framework and opportunities for support from the NYS DEC Hudson River Estuary Program;
A case study of the Village of Nyack’s Climate Vulnerability and Adaptation Plan, presented by Marcy Denker, Nyack’s Sustainability Coordinator;
Discussion of recent flooding from extreme storms in summer 2026, along with flood resilience efforts, presented by Andy Stewart, Nyack’s Village Administrator;
Small group discussions focused on flood experiences, planning, and funding opportunities;
Roundtable-style updates on current flood resilience work from participants; and
A walking tour of green infrastructure practices and other upgrades to Memorial Park in Nyack, funded primarily by the NYS Department of State’s Local Waterfront Revitalization Program grants.
This program is sponsored by the NYS DEC Hudson River Estuary Program and the NYS Water Resources Institute at Cornell University, and funded by the NYS Environmental Protection Fund.
Hudson Valley Flood Resilience Network programs are open to Members and Partners. Members are representatives from municipal and county governments in the Hudson River estuary watershed. This includes elected and appointed officials, staff, and volunteers. Partners are staff from agencies, regional organizations, or private-sector consulting firms working in the Hudson River estuary watershed that support Members’ flood resilience goals.
